Orthodontists are the experts of teeth alignment and proper bite and can improve the health and longevity of your teeth. Children should see an orthodontist around the age of 7 so that a skilled professional can evaluate the development of their adult teeth and take the proper steps to ensure they grow and align properly. Orthodontists must complete a full-time residency program following dental school, where they obtain hands-on experience and training. An orthodontist is qualified to assess and treat problems with the teeth and bite, which directly impacts the rest of your body's overall health.
Whether you are receiving orthodontic treatment for yourself or your child, we know that you may have a few questions. We’re here to help! At Village Orthodontics, we want you to feel as informed as possible throughout treatment—doing so will ensure you are not only maximizing your treatment but enhancing your entire experience.
Your first visit to our practice is an important one. You may be wondering what you can expect during your or your child’s treatment. Dr. Jeff and his Treatment Coordinator will take the time to get to know you, understand your orthodontic needs, formulate a treatment plan, and answer any questions you may have. Diagnostic images may also be taken at this time. Parents are encouraged to participate in their child’s care by sitting in the treatment area during the appointment.
If it is determined that your child is not ready for orthodontic treatment, a visit to our practice every 6 months is recommended. This ensures Dr. Jeff can monitor your child’s growth and development. These visits are complimentary.
Cost of care will also be discussed during your first visit. See our Financial & Insurance Policy section for more information.
Your initial consultation will address several items:
Please arrive a few minutes early to this appointment to check in and fill out any paperwork. In addition, we encourage patients to review and complete the required health history form on our online patient registration portal. Setting aside a few minutes to complete ahead of time will ensure we can make the most of our appointment time together.

At Village Orthodontics, we want you to have the best possible experience. Your braces and appliances require special care to keep your oral health at its best and to maximize your treatment experience. Every patient beginning their orthodontic journey with us will receive detailed oral care instructions. Dr. Jeff and his knowledgeable team will show you how to best look after your new smile. You will learn things like what foods to avoid, how to clean your teeth with your appliances on, and what to do if and when you encounter an issue. It is very important to review and follow the instructions provided to you by Dr. Jeff and his team at Village Orthodontics. We have included our standard care instructions here.
Brushing and flossing while wearing braces and other orthodontic appliances is easy but takes a little more time and effort. Poor oral hygiene can increase the risk of decay and gum disease. However, if you follow instructions for great home care, you can enjoy the benefits of healthy teeth throughout your entire treatment. Keeping a few key things in mind, you will probably find out that wearing braces is not that different from your normal routine.
We know how important it is to choose the right provider and practice for orthodontic treatment for yourself and your children. At Village Orthodontics, we do our best to make high-quality orthodontic treatment as affordable as possible.
